Chelsea to Host Event On Racial Healing Sponsored by Social Justice Matters

FANWOOD – The Chelsea at Fanwood will host “What’s Race Got to Do With It?” on Monday, January 17, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Chelsea is located at 295 South Avenue in Fanwood.  Social Justice Matters (a new organization formed to provide a place to discuss issues of race and prejudice in Scotch Plains and Fanwood) will sponsor this free, interactive discussion as part of its local activities for the Second Annual Martin Luther King Day of Service. In a mutually supportive environment, participants will explore how ordinary people can take the lessons of racial division in America and turn them into healing tools, according to The Chelsea.

The Beyond Diversity Resource Center, a New Jersey non-profit dedicated to educating people on cultural diversity, will present the program. You can register for the event (and for other activities on that day) through the MLK Day of Service link on the Scotch Plains/Fanwood Patch site.
